never again means fighting for black lives.
Never Again was founded by Jews dedicated to sparing others the persecution, torture, and mass murder that our people were subjected to. Black organizers are asking all of us to join them in the uprising for Black lives, the fight to end 400 years of persecution, torture, and mass murder. We will answer the call.
We also know that the fight for Black lives is the core of the fight against white supremacy and the forces that uphold it: the kinds of dehumanization, hatred, and state violence we see every day in the immigration system:
The sadistic jails where ICE locks up immigrants only exist because of this country’s deep commitment to criminalizing and locking up Black people.
The immigrants suffering in these places are disproportionately Black, because undocumented Black people are more likely to be targeted for deportation as non-Black undocumented immigrants.
The fear and scapegoating of non-white immigrants that turns into walls and camps is rooted in the racial hierarchies that were created to justify and uphold slavery and the genocide of indigenous people.
Hitler’s framework for understanding race and his obsession with racial purity were overwhelmingly based on the work of American anti-Black eugenicists.
In response to this moment, we are expanding our work to support the uprising for Black lives with our time, our platform, and our resources. Our goal is to mobilize our existing network of Jews and allies to show up for this fight, and to serve as an organizing home to grow the number of people taking action and the depth of our commitment.
